The Wagon R was launched way back in 1999. Four years later, the company gave it a facelift, followed by two more updates in the years 2006 and 2010. In the year 2017, the car manufacturer is all set to launch a highly improvised version of this popular family car, which will boast of some significant cosmetic changes and a new platform. Design & Styling
There is no denying that one of the reasons behind the massive popularity of the Wagon R was its tall-boy design. Probably this is why the auto manufacturer has decided to retain the same design for the new model as well. However, there are some aesthetic changes in the front fascia and at the rear, such as a differently styled bumper, newly-designed tail lamps, split headlamps with a large air intake at the lower grille, and a slimmer B-pillar. It is said that the car will be lighter than the current model by almost 10%. In terms of dimensions, it will be 3,599mm long, 1,495mm wide, and 1,670 mm tall, and will offer a wheelbase of 2,400 mm. Further, it will offer a stronger body, which will be carved from high quality steel.
Technical Specifications
As far as the specifications are concerned, it will draw its juice from the same 1.0-litre K-Series petrol engine that is said to produce 67 bhp of power and 91 Nm of torque. Mated to a 5-speed manual/automatic gear box, it will offer Suzuki’s TECT technology, which aids in rendering enhanced safety for its occupants.
The car is slated to release at the fag end of 2017 or early next year. Once launched, it will be positioned below the next generation Suzuki Swift.
