It is usually found in small, shallow patches and can pose a danger to motorists.<\/li>\n<li>Watch out for soft, fine and loose sand. Move ahead on foot to inspect how large the soft section is. If you don\u2019t have another car accompanying you or a tow chain, be very careful about attempting to cross that loose patch.<\/li>\n<li>Mud at river or creek crossings can also land you in trouble. Some sorts of mud have a tendency to even stop a 4WD vehicle.<\/li>\n<li>Cross a river or a creek with utmost caution. First inspect the firmness and depth of the river and creek crossing on foot.
